This coming month marks the launch fundraising event for our very own Powerful Voices Project! For those of you who haven’t heard about it yet, The Powerful Voices Project/The Journey of Powerful Voices is a documentary series that illuminates the strength and productivity that can be realized along the path of healing after sexual assault.

So we’re putting on a show! The Vagina Monologues is a beautiful and empowering production that brings out the stories and issues that make up the complex and unspoken world of female sexuality. Our show features many local performers:

Kit Mariah, Lois Pearlman, Kris Thurman-Fein, Deanna Neale, Jan Ger, Frances McCorkle, Chiko Katiki, Jenna Clark, Edie Smith, Noel Yates, Marsha Krienkamp, Shoshi Fein, Becky Fein, Nawz Zahir, Kristin White, Dawnmichelle Tucker, Christina Pingol, Mariah Panely, Marcela Mejia Ronan, and DeAnna Lam

Hello World!

Frances and I are kicking off the new year with some inspired and exciting plans for The Journey of Powerful Voices project. We are in the beginning stages of putting on a community production of the Vagina Monologues in Santa Rosa. This will be our official project launch event and we would love for you to be involved! We envision a intimate, relatively low-time commitment production, at a small-ish venue.

We’d love to hear from you if you might be interested in performing/volunteering/donating (time, skills, or any other contributions)! We’re looking for women all ages, backgrounds, and acting experience to perform! All others are invited and encouraged to support in our efforts off-stage.

Please spread the word! We’re looking for a cast of about 12-20 women, and a huge crew for set design, lighting, organization, volunteering, music, baking, and much, much more.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Frances and Becky were on the radio a couple weeks ago!! EXCELLENT NEWS: In case you weren’t able to tune in that evening, we’ve now posted the recording of the interview for download! Check out our In the Press page and download the interview for some good listening!

We were invited to be on KOWS talking about The Journey of Powerful Voices with DJ Arnold Levine, who found out about us in the Sonoma County Gazette in summer 2011. The interview was excellent and very powerful! Featured in it is Taylor Ferrera’s hit song “Legitimate Rape” created in response to Senator Todd Akin’s abhorrent remarks from earlier this summer, as well as the audio of the trailer video for the Journey.

We have added a “Support Us” tab in the menu bar and would love for some lovin’ in that realm! You can buy a hoop, donate some time/skills, or of course, donate some funds.

We are excited to open the invitation to people to donate their skills to our project. Think creatively and outside of the box, we are quite open to ideas and contributions that will help promote this important movement! We are also happy to open up an opportunity to those who may want to support our our mission in off-film ways. Collaboration is key!!
