In a landmark piece of legislation, California became the first state to take a progressive stand to prevent sexual assault. This marks a shift in the discussion around sexual assault, and the no-nonsense approach that it requires. While simply symbolic in many ways, and not without flaws or continued need for action, this is a positive step in the discussion, without a doubt.

Time to do away with the old school attitudes that have historically allowed for and indeed encouraged sexual assault and lack of communication in our sexual interactions.
